Organization & Staff

Organization & Staff
The Deming Luna Mimbres Museum artifacts are owned by the Luna County Historical Society, a non-profit corporation (tax exempt.) The building is owned by the City of Deming. The Society and Museum are governed and managed by a Board of Directors elected annually by the members of the Society.

Luna County Historical Society
THE society, organized in 1955, helps to set policy and supports the Museum. Membership is $5.00 per year and is open to everyone.

Pauline & Hubert Ruebush
Pauline and Hubert Ruebush established an endowment fund in 1980 that has grown through the generosity of members and the friends of the Society. Virginia Poole has been the Museum Director since 2009.

Volunteers
Volunteers are the lifeblood of this Museum. It is unique in that the only paid personnel is a cleaning / maintenance crew. Record keeping, the changing and maintenance of displays, minding the gift shop and guiding visitors are all very important functions of the Volunteers. Our docents have given our Museum a reputation for friendliness and hospitality that we are eager to maintain. It is rare that a Museum started by volunteers over thirty years ago is STILL operated by volunteers!

Financial Support
Financial support of the Museum is mainly from the generous contributions of visitors, local residents and from the profits from our Gift Shop. We appreciate the annual contributions from the Luna County Commission and the Deming City Council.
